El Alto — the high — is 100% blue Weber agave from the highest-altitude plots in Jalisco, tahona-crushed, distilled under master distiller David Rodríguez, and blended from reposado, añejo, and extra añejo components aged in eleven different barrel types — mostly hybrid casks with American oak bodies and French oak heads — then bottled at 40% ABV in a tall, faceted bottle with a heavy stopper. The Liquor Barn: the extra añejo share gives it the body and length of an older tequila — caramel, dried fruit, honey, vanilla, and a nutty barrel influence over floral highland agave. Expect a rich, silky, sweet palate of cooked agave, honey, caramel, and baking spice with a long, rounded finish. Honest note: this is Patrón's answer to Don Julio 1942 — a smooth, luxurious sipper built for the bottle-service crowd, priced like one, and better than most of that shelf.
